About the Ladies

Goddess in Progress, mayor of Loserville, is a stay-at-home-mom of twin toddlers in Massachusetts.  She has struggled with weight and body image her whole life, but a twin pregnancy really pushed her over the edge.  She is rekindling her long-standing off-and-on relationship with Weight Watchers, and looks forward to using the day care room at the gym.  In addition to feeling stronger, having more confidence, and being able to shop at “regular” stores again, her numerical goal is to eventually lose a whopping 70 pounds.  When not chasing her kids, she enjoys cooking, quilting, and photography.  She can also be found blogging at Goddess in Progress and How Do You Do It?.

WWMBT is one-half of a DINK (yet) union of two lawyers living in the Big Apple trying to avoid take-out Chinese and heart attacks (not an easy thing to do living in Manhattan and working long hours).  WWMBT has struggled with her weight since puberty and is now also fighting high cholesterol (a direct result of bad genes, an upbringing of butter and sugar, and a diet of take-out).  She has decided it’s time to reverse the trend of the last 10+ years and this time, for good.  WWMBT is a frequent reader of blogs and just lost her blogging virginity.  When she’s not reading blogs (and now, blogging herself), WWMBT enjoys watching insane amounts of television, spending time with with her husband and friends, and lately, yoga.

Nancy is a working mom of three: twins, Burke and Maggie are not quite 4; Logan is just over 1. She was a skinny kid with all the right curves growing up, but somehow everything shifted…she’s tried dieting in the past and has great results – at first – but then gets bored and slides (there’s been a LOT of sliding lately). She’s done the Weight Watchers at Work program, the Atkins diet, and the “I’ll just starve myself” diet, among others. For this run, she’s trying out the online version of Weight Watchers (points) since it seems to fit in with blogging. Nancy LOATHES exercise and rarely gets off of her butt since her job entails sitting in front of a computer all day. Her ultimate goal is to lose about 60 to 70 pounds, but she’s going to aim for about 20 right now. You can find Nancy blogging about family, life, and everything else under the sun at the Zimmer Zoo.

Luckyandtired is a stay-at-home-mom of identical twin boys and a lazy border collie. She lives in the rainy Northwest and loves camping, hiking, rafting, snowshoeing, swimming, biking, reading, sign language and step aerobics. She slowly packed on some pounds after college, so she started working out and eating healthy foods and lost 45 pounds and kept it off for three years before she got pregnant. Then proceeded to gain 65 pounds during a very healthy twin pregnancy. After recently weaning the boys, she is ready to start working out again and being much more careful about the types of food and the amount she eats. She’s excited to fit into her cute pre-pregnancy clothes and to have the strength and energy to carry a toddler on her back during hiking trips this summer. With no gym membership and no formal diet plan, she’s just going to work out five times a week (step aerobics at the house while the babies nap or jogging with the double stroller and the dog when weather permits) and keep a food journal, counting calories and being sure to consume plenty of fruits, veggies, whole grains, lean protein, lean dairy and water. Numerical goal – lose 30 pounds by the babies’ first birthday (Mar. 29, 09) and another 30 by August 09.  Her personal blog is Lucky & Tired.

Cynthia is a Western-Mass Mama of four kids under four: princess Alaina, identical twins Aaron and Brady, and newest addition, Brett. Three pregnancies so close together have taken a toll on this former athlete’s body. Cynthia is tired of losing her breath doing basic tasks like carrying laundry up the stairs and is ready to get serious again. Her method of choice is Weight Watchers online coupled with a return to her love/hate relationship with running. Her ultimate goal is to lose 35 pounds. Cynthia can also be found blogging over at The W Journey and How Do You Do It?.

Nakedanarchists is a mother of three trying to keep her children on this side of the law.  She impersonates a  real adult at work, where she advocates for reproductive justice and women’s health.  When she returns home, she is taken down a few notches by her 11 and 8 year old daughters and her toddler son.  Her day-to-day reality includes a steady crunch of cheerios on the floor, a house under construction and dirty laundry.  And an amazing husband.  She also blogs at nakedanarchists.

Darrah is ”Mommy” to a darling, 18-month-old, almost-caught-up, micropreemie, and she makes her home in beautiful eastern Kansas. Her job at a B2B media company guarantees she spends about nine hours a day sitting in front of a computer. She has a fondness for Baby Ruth bars and bad TV (preferably together), which explains why she’s a Lady of Loserville. Darrah blogs sporadically at www.watchingadelevision.blogspot.com.

Larkhappy is a working mom to Katie, who is in the 1 to 2 year range. She works with her husband who is a lawyer with a firm in Chattanooga. She started living a “normal” (house, white picket fence, 2.4 kids, etc) life pretty late because she is was completely irresponsible while trying to make her way in the world. She is generous to a fault, and has no tact, which is a dangerous combination for giving someone the shirt off her back, then putting her foot in her mouth. Everyone knows she means well, and she hears, “Bless her heart” all the time. She never takes herself too seriously and thinks that’s her best quality.

Becky of Stinky Lemsky is a newlywed living in St. Louis, Missouri. She is (like WWMBT) also enjoying her DINK status, but does hope to expand the household at some point in the (not TOO distant) future. Her family is her whole life – especially her two adorable nephews. She’s happy to be writing with the LOL and has a really, really hard time coming up with catchy phrases to describe herself. She’s struggling with the last few pounds of weight loss & hopes to be chronicling her maintenance journey soon.

MereCatherine is a SAH mom to boy/girl twins who will be two this March.  She just turned 40 this past November and feels that it is now or never to lose this weight.  She’d like to say it is “baby weight” but that’s not entirely true.  ”It’s break-up with a bad boyfriend, my mom had cancer and everyone brought fattening foods and I ate all of it because I was scared, then I quit smoking, then I got married, then I had infertility, and THEN I got pg with twins.  I’ve earned these rolls from living life in its entirety.”   She’s ready to make getting her health and shape back for her own self-esteem, but most importantly, as an older mom, she wants to stay young for her kids.
